Myth007 – Learn | Ideation | Energize | Inspire | Execute | Implement

Many organizations are faced with challenges on how to keep their people inspired and motivated. We have a simple formula and one in which our experiences have seen far-reaching results. So as an IT technology expert and knowing what technology people strive for (oh! it is not always money) we have closely worked with a group of technology partners and associates to develop a unique approach to building out innovation. It does not require you to spend Billions on renewing your technology stack or coming up with promises that cannot be kept. It boils down to the myth that IT people must just do what they are tasked to and delivery must happen one way or another. Projects like these are doomed for failure and result in serious disruption to business outcomes and business strategies.

What does it mean to break this myth? What is needed to manage people’s expectations to really engage them on a level that makes sense? With our many years of knowledge and experiences, many techniques have been tried and have failed. This had nothing to do with the people doing the job, it’s the manner in which the project was ideated and how the decisions came home to roost in a way that disrupted the people doing the job. In order to make things look good, the project was deemed a success but never delivered on all the promises. How many of you are in this situation. Our view is that there are several organizations in this conundrum and refusing to accept failure as a means to reinvent, learn and move on.

Sometimes these decisions cost money, but it’s better to cut losses now than to continue burning more money.

So what is it that works – obviously there is a secret recipe behind this, which is our intellectual property, but we will lay down some concepts that have worked well.

  • Learn – it is all about learning what works and what does not. Many people reinvent the wheel here and this is where it starts going horribly wrong.
  • Ideation – these are ideas gathered through a process we set-up using both bottoms-up and top-down approaches. The combination of mechanisms generate the right energy for fusing.
  • Energize – these are all the energies generated via Learn and Ideate, that become the life force of the people.
  • Inspire – this happens as a natural result of the right energy fusing. You will start to see each person inspired in his/her own way.
  • Execute – execution becomes simple and dare to believe. This is everything coming together to deliver on promises made.
  • Implement – is the final step to productionizing your deliverables resulting in a fully functional and crafted experience for users.

So the myth has been busted – believe in your people and they will in return support you in unimaginable ways. We have seen this approach work really well and have fine-tuned the process to suit each client based on their specific needs.
